Some Ideas about the Stud Farm / Horse Market

When studding a stallion or Selling a horse could there be an area where we could write a line or two about the horse to give the buyer / mare owner more information about the stallion / Horse for sale?

For Example I bought a horse in the market with the number 55 after its name, I thought I was buying a 55 birth stars horse but it was only 25-25. The breeder obviously called it 55 for some other reason. So When I stud it I would have liked to have written "Please Note not 55 stars only 25-25"

Positive things could also be written like "Won over all distances" or "Likes all Tracks" or "Won his first 10 races" if someone forget to put the birth stars in the name they could be written here.

My second suggestion is when you sell a horse using "Sell it Now" I think it should go into the market.

I understand this may upset people with selling licences but there are rarely more than 10 horses in the market at the highest level. To help the selling licence people maybe the mark up could be bigger when someone "Sells it now" say 50%

Personally I think everyone should be able to use the "Sell it Now" once a day and sell any horses after that using he licence.

We definatley need more horses in the market at the 5b+ level tho.

I probably have 20 horses frozen that could easily sell the problem for me is stall space - I cannot waste a stall on a sale horse so I usually freeze them.

Case in point I foal out 5 foals every two days, two, maybe three are going to be kept as replacement/upgrade mares in this crop and right now I have two stallions, I have a 26-24 stallion and mare that like all that are sitting in the freezer because I do not have room for them to keep 24 hours to sell.

If we could do as before when they did not count against us I would be able to send them out but as it is I need all of my stalls so instead of being useful they are frozen.

I like your suggestion about a comment box for the horses on sale Lamtara. Still could have a problem with people giving misinformation though, which is why the Ped star was brought in so no fudging the figures there. Regarding the Sell it Now feature; players were unhappy with the hooves markup on their horses and wanted to sell their own, hence the horse selling licence and the modest markup of 10%. I think the restriction to only buy 1 player sold horse a day is good in that it gives others a chance to buy. Unfortunate if you have the money and want to stock your stable from the horse market, but perhaps a little fairer to all the other players who dont have lots of cash to splash. Regarding the freezing, well, I only have 2 frozen as I'm not a collector. The function was brought in so people could freeze their stables and have a break. Some players have chosen to use it as part of their breeding program so horses that may/would have been sold before are being stored so not available for sale.

grasshopper i always like reading your posts you have a great in sight into the game, their could be a spot 4 more studding and selling 4 the honest people to use, as 4 freezing, it should be double what is is now to freeze one horse and very cheap to freeze a whole stable in case of sickness ect that is what it was ment for in the first place happy racing

Personally, I think there should be a cap on the amount of horses that can be frozen, maybe twice your stable i.e. for a player with 15 stables, they could have 15 in the stable and a maximum of 15 on ice. So that people who want to freeze for their breeding program can, but, as you say it was primarily brought in so people wouldnt lose their whole stable in the case of illness or holidays, and I like your idea of a reduced rate (holiday rates). But, for those who want to use the freezer as storage for preserving their stock then a higher fee be charged ? (am I understanding you correctly there ?)

I still think we have the horse market wrong....and especially now with the sell now feature hardly any horses in the market to buy as most people just sell now....with the races harder to win now i wanted to buy a new cup horse and when u go into market ur lucky to find a horse in there with 10 wins let alone 50 wins....i personally think we should be paying more for a horse when it is older cause atm only young horses there with very few wins....which makes no appeal to anyone.

So IMO we still havnt got this sell feature right.

I freeze my top horses due to working nights ( LT GALLOWAY stable name) as can often lose 4 days racing in a week. Not every one uses this for holidays sickness etc and it costs me a fortune so would not like to see a higher fee.
I sell one horse most days and think it should go into the market.
I do not use selling licence as 7 days is 2 long I feel 2 be locked into this.

yes lynaddie, 7 days is quite a committment unless you're using the license solely to breed and sell to make money. For a casual player it just wouldn't be worth it. The freeze option is great .. I really like it.

I agree with Noel.I think it should be brought back that more wins makes your horses worth more money. I find myself not selling my older horses anymore because its not worth it. Even if I decide to sell them they won't go to market because I am looking for room if I am getting rid of a nice runner not money. If you need money you sell your more expensive younger horse. I also think the license should only be for a day. That way it is less of a commitment. At this point the sell it now feature is just easier. A person has to really put themselves out to put a horse on the market.
Also I wonder about the possibility to have the horse put automatically in the freezer when it goes to the market. I agree that most the time I sell for space so I don't put a horse in the market unless someone is specifically asking for the horse. When the horse is being sold it goes to the market and if it is not sold maybe it can go to the freezer. If you want the horse back you can pay to unfreeze it. This way you have your stall space and people instead of just sticking their horses in the freezer may put them on the market if they know they won't be sacrificing their much needed stall space.

A week is definitely too long for the license. A few well-known breeders can be confident of selling their horses, but I am not particularly well known. I got a license just to see what it was like, but since I often breed to studs from other stables, I was pretty much bankrupt in a couple of days. I'm not sure what the solution should be, but I won't be getting license anytime soon, which means some nice horses will just disappear into oblivion.
